Deer Hunting
At Swamp Donkey Properties our goal is to reach peak quality deer as provided by the property. Since 2015 our property has been intensely managed by a professionally hired biologist. We have been patient and disciplined to get the property to where it is today. As a result, we've had 160’s and 170’s on the property since the first two years of the property management practices. The property manager works directly with the biologist through thousands of pictures and in field observations to determine the highest standard of both the buck and doe harvest. All trophy bucks are harvested at 5.5 years of age or older, and therefore we required all hunts to be guided. We have waited for the optimal time to release this property, to share it with others, for their hunt of a life time. We will begin booking hunts for the Fall 2021 season.
The property is primarily made up of mixed hardwoods and swamp bottoms with a small amount of hill ground. You will see a variety of thickets, oaks, pecans, browse, food plots and other habitat that deer thrive on. Hunting will take place out of box blinds, ladders, lock-ons or ground blinds. A hunter can expect to see 10-15 deer per hunt on average, but a lot factors can play into that figure.
Buck Harvest Guidelines
- 2023-2024 Season - Trophy Bucks - one buck per customer - 5.5 year old or older scoring greater than 125'
Any bucks shot without the guide's permission will result in a $5,000 fine.
